Hospitals
Fargo has two major hospitals:
- Sanford Health System is a not-for-profit integrated health care system headquartered in Fargo, N.D. Founded in the early 1900s as the Fargo Clinic and St. Luke's Hospital, Sanford has a rich 100-year history of community involvement and social accountability, including patient-focused care, and regional outreach.
They are the largest private employer in North Dakota with 7,131 individuals (5,908 full-time equivalents), 20 locations in Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo, 19 regional clinics in Minnesota, 1 regional hospital in Minnesota, and 8 regional clinics in North Dakota.
The Sanford Downtown Hospital has 380 adult and pediatric licensed beds and includes a 61-bed Children's Hospital consisting of a 33-bed level III neonatal intensive care unit, 6-bed pediatric intensive care unit and 22 general pediatric beds.
The Sanford South University Hospital has 203 adult licensed beds and includes 33 transitional care beds. It is a CARF-accredited rehabilitation unit.
- Essentia Health is a south Fargo Hospital comprised of a hospital and clinic. The arrangement of the clinic and hospital, just steps apart, allows for an efficient management of resources. Innovis Health has 86 private patient rooms, including critical care, medical surgical care, pediatric, neonatal intensive care, and maternity care. Services on-site include a 24 hour Emergency Department with Level II trauma designation as well as Urgent Care which is staffed 12 hours a day. The hospital and clinic at this location have a combined 10 operating room suites, which include inpatient and day surgery.
Essentia Health has 7 locations in Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo, 8 regional clinics in Minnesota, and 7 regional clinics in North Dakota (one in Casselton).
